CURSE ME FOR A NOVICE! : 03-28-09
PUBLISH or PERISH!

---

"l'il mac"

---

To ANY readers who have been eagerly anticipating my review of New Avengers # 51, and the pursuant in-depth analysis of the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme... (with my continuing series on "the Search for, Nature and History of the Sorcerer Supreme").

It is nearly completed.

However, my general physical and mental state as of late has left me easily fatigued.

To that end, thrice over the past day, I have meant to hit "SAVE NOW" and instead clicked "PUBLISH POST" only to be forced to quickly scurry, copying and pasting everything into a NEW POST and then hurriedly deleting the posted, UNFINISHED version.

I mean - - WHO DESIGNED Blogger?
WHY would you place those two buttons so close together like that?

WTF?

So, if you have subscribed to this blog and have received a few half-formed posts on the subject, my apologies.

Feel free to read what you have, but please understand that it is unfinished and many notes are just tossed in various spots as mental placeholders.

I don't normally like to work this way, but I'm not operating at 100% today.

Keep your eyes on this space for that promised post.
Later today!
(I hope)

*UPDATE*
OK. The post is live.
You can find it either in the post que or feel free to just use this handy link: [HERE]

The ANKH! It BURNS!

(image from Doctor Strange; Master of the Mystic Arts # 28
- Roger Stern, Tom Sutton, Ernie Chan)
-------------

I AM LATE IN POSTING - AGAIN!!!

My most humble apologies folks.
I have the WORST headache that just looking at the monitor is killing me (hence, the appearance of the ankh on my brow).

There's no real excuse though.
Even WITH all that's been going on with me lately (work and home stuff have been murder), I still managed to have a HUGE post all prepared; the research has all been completed, images were scanned (most have been cropped properly), I even went the extra mile and got some creator interview information...
Still, I have only a small window of opportunity to actually WRITE the entry, but that window is rapidly closing, and I know I won't be able to make it.

Not with this bleeding headache, anyway.

Right behind my left eye and straight through to the back of my skull.
I'm sure if I look in the mirror, that image up top of this post is exactly what I'll see.

So... I'll make it up to all of you.
Instead of the one post - on the life (and death) of Rintrah, I'll try to make a whole mini-series of the lives of ALL of Doctor Strange's apprentices / disciples / students.
(There are more of them than you may think.)

My pain is your gain.

HOUSING CRISIS :
SANCTUS INTERRUPTUS
Part I - Please Pardon the Mess:
- The Intro

Oh, the irony.

I had meant to work up a simple post detailing the similarities between Doctor Strange's "Sanctum Sanctorum" and my own collectibles-room, dubbed as MY own "Sanctum Sanctorum"
(or "officially", since I am one of two such known die-hard collector's: the Sanctum Sanctorum East.)

This came to me while working on last week's mega-post about the Marvel World playset, and disassembling the Sanctum-unit from it, it struck me as a good idea for a post about how the current "dilapidated" appearance of the Sanctum in the comics (much like how having the piece in my hand reminded me of the "destruction" of it in the comics) was likened to that of my own "dilapidated" Sanctum.

The Sanctum unit - removed - from the playset.

The overall arch of the post was to be WHY I don't post as often as I'd like; which would have been explained by how, much like Doc's home is currently a destroyed shambles at the present time (in the comics), so is my own "Sanctum" (in real life) due to lack of time and the pressures of the day-job, family and a house that was built on an indian burial ground (I kid, but it may as well have been).

It was a subject that I mildly touched upon in a previous post, basically why, in my mind my blogging has suffered; since my job and the whole menagerie here have been punching my time-clock pretty hard.

Normally, I steal some moments on a lunch break or late night when everyone (and everything) is (hopefully) asleep, and I quickly mash some laptop keyboard in a rough approximation of the English language just so I can have something "posted".

There's no time for fancy things like "drafts" or "cohesive thought".
It's just a smash-and-grab of bits of time and synaptic misfires.

But then a strange thing occurred;
I started posting MORE often to compensate for it.
AND, to top it off, the "simple" comparison post exploded into a massive historical overview of the multiple rises and falls of the Sanctum Sanctorum in published history.

So, this entire WEEK (or so) will see this massive post broken down into installments.

HOUSING CRISIS : SANCTUS INTERRUPTUS
The chronological rise, fall, rise and fall (repeat ad nauseum) of the
- Sanctum Sanctorum -.
(Hey. It's happened more often than you might think.)

However, to start you off, I'll just cover a brief introduction to it all and toss up some cool images.

If the SANCTUM SANCTORUM is supposed to look like THIS:

(and as a visual metaphor, is what my OWN Sanctum should be likened as; neat, orderly, stable.)

But now, looks like THIS:

(well... you can guess what this visual metaphor is saying about the state of being for my own habitat)

Then, it should give you an idea as to where I'm coming from these days.

And, although, as the last few weeks have proven, I will do everything that I can to avoid any delays, why I may be a bit spotty with my posting in the future (at least until I can figure out how to cast a "magical broomstick" spell, like "The Sorcerer's Apprentice").

I'll leave you now with the ultra-cool 3D turn-around views of the Sanctum Sanctorum as drawn by Marvel CEO and EEK; Joe ("Doc is too powerful") Quesada*.
**EDIT**
I should have paid more attention. While featured on his BLOG, it turns out that Mr Quesada did NOT render this 3D Sanctum. It is instead the work of Jason Christensen.
My apologies Jason.

Series Continues - here in:
HOUSING CRISIS : SANCTUS INTERRUPTUS
- Part II - Welcome to the Neighborhood
Strange (Tales) Days Indeed

* Say what you will about the man, but dude can draw (and with the new mediums available, is trying new things)! OK. Joe Q CAN still draw the heck out of stuff, but just not in this instance. Props go to Jason Christensen.

GHOSTS in the MACHINE

Astral form of Dr. Strange by John Romita Jr (Amazing Spider-Man # 500)

Weird.
I had just made a pretty good post (a few pics, a lot of descriptive text) but for SOME reason, there kept appearing in the middle of it - some weird grey boxes.

No matter how I tweaked it, the html or the images, it was still there, like phantom placeholders for images that didn't exist.

SO, I deleted that post entirely and put THIS up in it's place.

Maybe MY system is having a conniption fit?
Could be the snow and wind storm that is transpiring outside my house is affecting things?
Perhaps sunspots on the other side of the world are affecting the feed?
Mayhap Blogger is wigging out?

Or perhaps... Astral Entities were making themselves manifest like spectral orbs in photographs (get Mike Sterling and his debunko squad over here, stat!)...

I don't know.

(I'm sure that it had nothing to do with one of the three images that I did use being potentially corrupted or anything... nahhhh!)

I'll repost that entry tomorrow and take it from there.
So, anyone who got an update notice or saw a blurb on another aggregator; a thousand pardons.

We'll try this again in the morning.
Good night.

***UPDATED***
OK. It's morning, and I reposted that problematic entry, only for the same problem to occur.
Figuring that it HAD to be the images, I reconfigured, and resaved them.
-the same thing-

Then, figuring the images were filled with bad code, I took screen-shots of them and saved THOSE as separate images.
- same -

So, I'm going to have to try to re-work the whole thing and get it up here later today.
Darn spectres!

***END UPDATE***

Until then, I'll just let the unseen battle rage on.

Beset & Besieged!

This cover image* represents my current situation - PERFECTLY!
(art by Jackson "Butch" Guice)

Within the visual metaphor which that cover presents, SATANNISH & MEPHISTO would represent my job & my home/personal life ** - clashing over my time.
Which would make me DOCTOR STRANGE, (natch') caught betwixt and between!

You'll also note the destruction of the SANCTUM SANCTORUM below his/my feet.
That perfectly represents the state of the house (and my "Sanctum" wherein I keep all the swag needed to get this darn blog-post completed).

So, it is with heavy heart that I must beg for mercy & forgiveness, vowing to have the HUGE, MONOLITHIC and SUPER-STUPENDOUSLY AWESOME (I may be overselling it a bit) blog entry for the
MARVEL WORLD PLAYSET
for this coming weekend.

Believe me, no one is more upset than I.

However, with the demands of my job getting more urgent these past weeks and my home-life becoming "like unto a thing of IRONY" (did you get what I did there?), but irony most dark - has left me with even less opportunity for "stolen time" to work on this than ever.

I think we'd all rather I took the time to do it right, than just slap together a bunch of pics and hastily phrased text (which is pretty much what I usually do around here).

So, I'll have this ready for you sometime this weekend.
Thanks for your patience and kind understanding.

** Don't expect to have me tell you which of those demons represents my wife.

Oh, hi honey. No... I was only kidding... no... no... AAAGGHHHHH!!!!!!

The ANKH burns upon my brow!

... I am LATE in my posting!

(image from Doctor Strange; Master of the Mystic Arts # 41
- Chris Claremont, Gene Colan, Dan Green)

-------------

I had hoped to have the promised MARVEL WORLD post up this Sunday night, but real life got in the way and Sunday turned to Monday turned to Monday night...

I didn't want to leave you faithful few hanging without word as to the whereabouts of the write-up, so here I am with my "mea culpa".

It's nearly finished, but it's turned into a LONG post, filled to bursting with pics and descriptive text. A veritable tome of a blog post.
Surely worth the extra time (I hope).

So, please check in tomorrow... night? Or Wednesday.
If it's later than that, I'll HAVE to make it into a super-deluxe, mega-awesome post to more than make up for the delay.

And I'll have to give you all $10.00. *

* no one is getting the $10.00
sorry.
