Due to an error on my part, I accidentally posted the 2011 Sanctum Awards with a bad cut/paste job of last-year's header, for the 2010 Sancty Awards.
While I was later able to rectify the oversight in the actual title, the URL (as still seen above) retained the 2010 date information.
And because I am a crazy-person, that means I had to cut/paste & re-post the entire thing anew (so it would get a proper URL) and leave THIS post as a placeholder / link to the awards.
So sorry for the inconvenience.
Breathtaking work and incredibly comprehensive reviews and commentary as usual, Ptor! Can't say I have any disagreements.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the Bowen Eternity bust until I read about it here and almost crapped Twinkies when I saw it.
Hang in there, P. You're not going to let Bendis outlast you, are you? Who'll look after Doc if you leave?
ReplyDeleteNew Avengers #7... yeah. There wasn't any need for a ham-fisted "I've got nothing left" line when Stuart Immonen had Strange say the same thing, far more eloquently, in #6 (just after Daniel has sworn vengeance and left in a huff -- the look on Strange's face is just... *sniff*). But at least that was the end of it: we haven't seen him moping or whining about his troubles; just standing with the team and being a professional.
As for Greg Pak, if he or his followers are reading this, I've always liked the way he writes Strange with a kind of desperate nobility hard up against ugly circumstances. I don't think Zom was his idea -- I read his story ideas for WWH and he originally planned for Strange to wind up at the Crossroads and go mad. I suspect he had editorial orders to leave Strange 'compromised.' And he was the one who finally ended the Strange!Zom business, which could have dragged out with increasing tedium for years.
